TALLINN this week

 

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, will also be the capital of culture for all of Europe in 2011. This will be the biggest cultural event in the history of Estonia. Something will be happening in Tallinn every day in 2011, since the year of capital of culture will be bringing some of the world’s biggest names to Estonia.


6th Design Night festival

On September 16-25, Tallinn is overtaken by innovative design fans who are taking part of the European Innovation festival IF... and Design Night festival. Festival organisers have included several joint projects which are carried out in cooperation with their Finnish partners in the programme.

7th TALLINN Chamber Music Festival

Tallinn Chamber Music Festival is created to enrich and add some classical spice to the busy cultural life in Tallinn. PLMF organizes the Festival with the support of the Tallinn City Government, the Ministery of Culture and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia. The Festivals artistic director is the outstanding Estonian opera singer Pille Lill.

Estonian bread day and autumn fair

will take place in Estonian Open Air Museum
Bread has been the main provider of sustenance for Estonians throughout history. There’s even a proverb: ‘bread is the master of the house’. The word ‘bread’ and all its past glory has become a synonym for all Estonian food.

Sebastian Nübling & Simon Stephens – ‘Three Kingdoms’

September will see the premiere of Sebastian Nübling’s production of a detective story about an international business where the goods are not products, but people. Audiences will be presented with an international project featuring actors from three different countries.

Light in the Kadriorg, September 15, 19.00-23.00

At this one-night festival dedicated to light, you'll be able to attend and participate in everything for FREE. This family event is set in the romantic Kadriorg Park and features fireworks, torches, candles, concerts, Irish dancing musical fireworks and so much more. Hopefully they will remove the swans from the pond before setting off the fireworks though.
